The holiday season puts unprecedented demands on kitchen appliances. From Thanksgiving turkey to Christmas dinner and New Year celebrations, your refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher work overtime. Proper preparation prevents breakdowns during the most important meals of the year.

Start refrigerator preparation two weeks before major holidays. Clean the interior thoroughly, including removing and washing shelves and drawers. Check that temperature settings are correct and verify the unit is cooling properly.

Create space for holiday food storage by removing unnecessary items and organizing remaining contents efficiently. Consider using the garage refrigerator or coolers for beverages to free up main unit space.

Test your oven thoroughly before the big day. Run it at various temperatures and verify accuracy with an oven thermometer. Clean the interior if needed, but avoid self-clean cycles within a week of major cooking to prevent timing and component issues.

For gas ranges, check all burners for proper ignition and flame pattern. Blue flames with yellow tips indicate proper combustion. Yellow or orange flames suggest cleaning or adjustment is needed.

Dishwashers face heavy loads during entertaining. Clean the filter, check spray arms for clogs, and run an empty cycle with dishwasher cleaner to ensure optimal performance.

Ice makers should be tested and cleaned. Dump existing ice that may have absorbed freezer odors and verify production rate meets your entertaining needs.

Schedule professional maintenance in October or early November. Repair services book quickly during pre-holiday season, and waiting until problems occur risks missing the holidays entirely.

Keep our emergency service number handy. We offer priority scheduling for existing customers during holiday weekends because we understand that a breakdown during Thanksgiving dinner is more than an inconvenience.
